Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is an expansion developed by Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ. Released in 2008 as the third and final expansion for Dawn of War, it expanded the game to epic proportions. The campaign now encompassed four planets and three moons in the Kaurava system with nine playable factions.
The Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar were introduced as new factions. The Sisters brought religious zeal and holy flames to the battlefield with units like Exorcists, Penitent Engines, and mighty Living Saints that combined faith with firepower. The Dark Eldar relied on speed, treachery, and the suffering of their victims with abilities that strengthened them through killing.
The campaign system introduced air units, opening new tactical possibilities. Units could be transported between planets, and air superiority became an important strategic factor. The campaign's size was impressive but required considerable time investment to fully experience.
Although Soulstorm was criticized for some balance issues and bugs, it offered the most comprehensive Dawn of War content to date. The modding community fixed many problems and expanded the game with new factions and improvements.
