Space Hulk (1993)

Space Hulk (1993) is a real-time tactics game developed by Electronic Arts. Released in 1993, the game brought the claustrophobic tension of the board game to PC. Terminators of the Blood Angels Chapter infiltrate a Genestealer-infested Space Hulk, where every step through narrow corridors becomes a potentially fatal decision.

The gameplay proves intense and stressful. Terminators are powerful but slow, while Genestealers stream through the corridors in masses. The real-time element adds pressure—players must react quickly when contacts appear on their scanner, creating genuine tension throughout each mission.

The atmosphere is suffocating and effective. Dark corridors, sudden contacts, and constant danger create real tension. The graphics were impressive for their time and captured the gothic design of Space Hulks perfectly, establishing the visual language for future adaptations.

The 1993 Space Hulk is considered a classic that defined what a tactical Space Hulk game could be. Its influence can be felt in all later adaptations of the license, and it remains a fondly remembered milestone in Warhammer gaming history.
