Total War: Warhammer is a turn-based strategy and real-time tactics game developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. Released in May 2016, it united two legendary franchises and created something entirely new. The campaign map of the Old World becomes the battlefield for the Empire, Greenskins, Vampire Counts, and Dwarfs.

For the first time in Total War history, magic plays a decisive role. Powerful wizards can decimate enemy formations with devastating spells, while flying units like dragons and griffons compete for air superiority. Legendary Lords like Karl Franz or Grimgor Ironhide bring their own unique abilities and quest chains.

Each faction plays fundamentally differently. The Empire relies on balanced troops and gunpowder, while Vampire Counts deploy undead hordes and powerful single combatants. Dwarfs dig in and annihilate enemies with superior artillery, and Orks grow stronger the more they fight. This asymmetry makes every playthrough unique.

The game achieved critical and commercial success, founding a trilogy. Regular DLCs added new factions, Legendary Lords, and gameplay mechanics. Total War: Warhammer revitalized not only the Total War series but also interest in Warhammer Fantasy, which Games Workshop had recently ended. It proved that the Old World was far from forgotten.
