Warhammer 40,000: Regicide is a chess hybrid game developed by Hammerfall Publishing. Released in 2015, Space Marines and Orks replace classic chess pieces, but the game adds a combat phase after each move. Chess meets brutal 40K action in this unique fusion.

The gameplay features two modes. Classic Regicide plays like normal chess with 40K figures. The Slaughter mode adds an action phase after the chess move, where pieces can shoot and use abilities. This fundamentally changes strategy and creates more dynamic gameplay.

The campaign leads through 50 missions with increasing difficulty. Each faction has unique abilities—Marines are versatile while Orks are unpredictable. Multiplayer enables duels between strategists from both worlds.

Regicide was an unusual experiment. Chess purists disliked the random elements, while 40K fans appreciated the creative interpretation. It remains a niche game with a dedicated following.
