Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is a turn-based tactics game developed by Complex Games and published by Frontier Foundry. Released in May 2022, it serves as a spiritual successor to the 1998 classic while focusing on the Grey Knights, the secret order of psyker Space Marines dedicated to hunting daemons. A mysterious plague called the Bloom spreads across the galaxy, and only the Grey Knights can stop it.

The XCOM-inspired combat system has been adapted for the Grey Knights. Each knight is an immensely powerful psyker warrior, equipped with Nemesis weapons and psychic powers. The Precision Targeting system allows targeted attacks on body parts to cripple or disarm enemies. Environmental destruction adds another tactical layer to engagements.

The campaign weaves tactical missions with strategic management of the Baleful Edict, the Grey Knights' strike cruiser. Players must decide which planets to save and which to sacrifice while the Bloom spreads inexorably. Research, equipment, and recruitment must all be balanced against the growing threat.

Daemonhunters earned praise for its compelling gameplay and faithful portrayal of the Grey Knights. Voice acting and presentation are first-class, and tactical depth keeps players engaged for dozens of hours. It proves that the Chaos Gate concept still works 24 years after the original.
