Mordheim: City of the Damned is a tactical turn-based RPG developed by Rogue Factor and released in 2015. Based on Games Workshop's skirmish tabletop game, it takes place in the cursed city of Mordheim after a devastating comet strike has left it in ruins. Warbands from across the Old World converge on the city to scavenge wyrdstone, a valuable and corrupting substance scattered by the comet's impact.

The gameplay features brutal turn-based combat in procedurally generated streets and ruins. Players command small warbands, positioning warriors on elevated terrain, behind cover, and in ambush positions. Combat emphasizes positioning, flanking, and risk management, with permanent injuries and death awaiting those who fight recklessly. Each warrior has individual stats, skills, and equipment that develop through survival and victory.

Four distinct warbands offer different playstyles and lore backgrounds. The Sisters of Sigmar fight to purge corruption, while the Cult of the Possessed embrace Chaos mutations. The Skaven seek wyrdstone for their dark purposes, and mercenary bands pursue profit in the city's dangers. Each warband has unique units, abilities, and progression paths that reward specialization.

Mordheim captures the desperation and danger of fighting in a cursed city where mutation, madness, and death lurk around every corner. The game faithfully adapts the tabletop's grim atmosphere and punishing difficulty, creating a tactical experience where every decision carries weight and every battle could spell doom for your warriors.
